"Let it be known, over the years,
the terms Roger Earl's Foghat and Lonesome Dave's Foghat
came to define two different bands;
both using the original name. I thought it was gross.
When
I joined Foghat, there was but one.
Never on the face of this earth, would I have joined a
band that was bastardizing the name with someone else.
I played in one, and only one Foghat; because I deserved
it and earned it.
When the other Foghat came about, I said to Roger, "This
is like the Beatles with just Ringo".
He laughed. I love, respect and miss Roger Earl."
In
no way is this meant as a slam, but more out of respect
to a band I was a fan of.

| "I
remember being quite sick at The Metz in Las Vegas.
A few days later, Roger and I both ended up going
to the hospital in Modesto, CA for the Martian Flu
or something. I always found the ability to go into
auto pilot on such occassions. The show must go on,
ya know...and it did." |

"This
particular day, as I look back on it, turned out to be the
biggest show of my life (as far as attendance, 80,000).
I guess it's kind of hard to keep a show like this a secret
when Carlos Santana is headlining. I enjoyed all of the
bands that day. I stayed for the entire show. Most of the
time, after my particular timeslot, I would go back to the
hotel after the show. Couldn't seem to pull myself away
from the excitement for this one though. Hard to believe
it's been twelve years since this show. I guess it's time
for another one."

Ironically,
Jeff did play at another large event shortly after making this
statement.
